Industrial entrepreneurs in the country are interested in solar panels and modern generators at the Electricity and Energy Saving Technologies exhibition to find an alternative to electricity.
Bangladesh Innovation and Infrastructure Development Exhibition (BIID) Expo and Dialogue 2022 is being held at the Bangabandhu International Convention Center (BICC) in the capital.
A visit to the show on Friday found industrialists flocking to booths with state-of-the-art generators and clean energy such as solar, wind and hydropower.
They said that regular power outages [2 to 3 hours a day] severely disrupted their plant, and they were looking for technology that would keep the plant running in the event of a power outage.
The 11th International Exhibition, organized by ExpoNet Exhibition (Pvt) Ltd, started on October 13th and will end today (October 15th).
About 45 equipment manufacturers and service companies from India, Germany and Bangladesh will present their products at the fair.
“Now there is no electricity for two or three hours a day, and in the future there may be a shortage of natural gas. Therefore, we are looking at how to use new technologies to make the plant work,” he said.
Ran Power Engineering LLC imports energy efficient generators from abroad. Abdur Rahim Khan, the company’s head of marketing, said: “Our sales have increased by 10% recently due to deteriorating load shedding. We offer state of the art generators to suit the needs of the organization.”
Ifada Electronics Lts sells solar fans, solar water pumps, street lights and various other solar devices. Another company, Super Saver, provides IPS and UPS services for home and office.
Ifada CTO Miraj Hossain said: “We provide all kinds of support regarding solar energy. Our products were in demand before, but now the demand has increased even more.”
Nazmul Haq, a consultant for three private organizations, said: “Our organization needs solar support. So, we are here to understand how to get this support at a low cost. You will find many organizations offering such support under one roof.”
He added: “Our factories are running 12-hour days and must continue to operate with load shedding. We check generators and solar energy and calculate the amount of electricity needed for uninterrupted production.”
SK Md Rashedul Haque, Managing Director of ExpoNet Exhibition (Pvt) Ltd, said: “We encourage the use of environmentally friendly and energy efficient technologies. We are committed to raising awareness of energy conservation, especially among landlords in the rental sector, including clothing, textiles and cement.”
SK Md Rashedul Haque said that the price of green and energy efficient products is a bit high. As a result, many business owners were unable to buy a car. The government should be able to buy cars in installments.
At the exhibition, more than 10 booths of LED lighting companies demonstrated various types of lighting.
